Our Founder and History

Rooted in Faith, Guided by the Spirit

A Legacy of Faith

Founder: Elder Samuel K. Brako
True Faith Church International traces its roots to Elder Samuel K. Brako, a devout man of faith born in Juaben, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. His journey of leadership began after the Second Kumasi-Juaben War (1874-1875), when his family migrated to Akim Abuakwa. By 1914, following a series of divine revelations, Elder Samuel was instructed by Jesus Christ to establish a church where believers would worship on Saturday, aligning with the Sabbath.

Despite being a dedicated member of the Methodist Church, Elder Samuel followed this divine calling and established what would become True Faith Church, initially facing resistance from established churches and even family. However, by 1936, Elder Samuel had acquired a significant property, transforming it into a worship center. This move allowed the church to flourish, spreading its wings beyond Osiem.

Growth and Leadership
Under Elder Samuel's leadership and guidance, the church grew as he preached against moral vices such as alcohol and adultery, encouraging followers to live holy lives filled with prayer, fasting, love, and charity. Samuel’s work was supported by powerful evangelists like the Krofa brothers, and his family, including his wife Mary Akosua Amonu Gyamfua, and their children, who became instrumental in the expansion of the church.

Miracles and the Holy Spirit
Elder Samuel Brako’s ministry was filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, which enabled him to perform miracles, including healing the sick and casting out demons. The church became known for its prophetic ministry, where spiritual revelations guided the congregation. The faithful were often called "people who have no need for physicians," as the power of the Holy Spirit healed many.

Church Organization and Doctrine
True Faith Church is grounded in the principles of the Old and New Testaments, focusing on worshiping God in holiness. Members of the church observe the Sabbath and approach worship with reverence, including removing their sandals before entering the presence of God. The church places emphasis on humility, simplicity in dress, and the absence of elaborate titles, reflecting its roots in spiritual leadership.

Legacy and Schisms
Following the passing of Elder Samuel Brako in the 1940s, True Faith Church International has continued to grow. Establishing branches worldwide, particularly in Europe and North America. The church’s expansion reflects its commitment to spreading the gospel and nurturing a Spirit-filled community.

Today, True Faith Church International remains steadfast in its mission to proclaim the message of Jesus Christ, foster a strong prophetic ministry, and serve communities both in Ghana and abroad.
